Vulcan Product Bulletins

For the first three decades of the twentieth century, Vulcan issued a “general” product bulletin which featured all of its products in product. (Some material from those bulletins is here.)  In a pre-internet age, printed bulletins were about the only way a company could advertise its products and provide its customers (current and prospective) information they needed about the product. That information also included service information as well.

Starting in the late 1920’s, Vulcan began to produce brochures for specific products in the line.  By the mid-1930’s these had displaced the general bulletins and the system that pretty much lasted until the end of Vulcan Iron Works was in place.

Each product line had a basic bulletin number and a letter code for the version of the bulletin.  The original bulletin in the series had no letter code; subsequent bulletins had a letter at the end in ascending alphabetical order.  Some letters were skipped regularly (“C” was skipped for the Super-Vulcan hammers, “I” was skipped because it looked like “1”.)  The last known letter is shown with each bulletin number.

Occasionally a letter was skipped and sometimes you would have two bulletins with the same number, but generally Vulcan applied the system consistently.  The known list of these is below.  If you have additional information, you can contact us.  We also have links to information on many of the product lines, and in some cases copies available of the bulletins or manuals.
