It is our general practice to post books of general engineering interest on our companion site Chet Aero Marine. This, however, is an exception because vibration technology in general and vibratory hammers in particular are a special interest. In this case however the book devotes some space to the topic, specifically Section 45, Vibratory Pile Driving and Vibratory Tamping. This section discusses impact-vibration hammers as well.
One thing that is absent from virtually all Soviet treatments of pile driving in general is the application of wave propagation in piles. In this context the following comment is very interesting:
In some cases, especially in driving long piles, the wave character of strain propagation through the pile begins to play a considerably role and the models treated above prove inapplicable.
