Many engineers are looking for properties of these sheets (such as moment of inertia and section modulus) that Vulcan didn’t have much interest in. In the 1970’s, the sheet pile manufacturers changed their designations; a conversion chart for some of those designations can be found in Vulcan Onshore Tip #51: Sheet Pile Designations.
More information on this topic can be found in the vulcanhammer.info Guide to Pile Driving Equipment.
For those of you who are following posting of The Vibration Method of Driving Piles and Its Use in Construction, Lord willing we will resume that in the next month or so. Some of the chapters will discuss driving sheet piles with vibratory hammers; a later Soviet treatment of that topic can be found at Installation and Extraction of Metal Sheet Piling.
